In keeping with our ‘Shop Small’ agenda here some of our favourite local businesses and products we think you might love.
Art Disco
Two inspiring woman who are incredible print and design boffin’s. We love their whole range but a firm favourite this festive season is their Neptune's Nightcap' soy wax candle.
What makes us love them that little bit more…. is that their products are totally plastic free, hand printed, in Whitby and inspired by the place we call home.
Jessica Hogarth
Jessica was born and raised in Robin Hood’s Bay and her art work captures the heart of the area. She has recently opened up a beautiful shop which is a must visit in her hometown. Our favourite product is the mini chopping board. Perfect for cheese platters! We take ours everywhere. It’s a handy size for the backpack too.
What makes us love her that little bit more… is that Jessica draws each design so that they capture the hidden gems of Whitby.
Furbelow & Co
Furbellow is a family run Gentlemen’s store with a twist, nestled on Sandgate in the old part of the historic town of Whitby. Furbellow is our go to shop for gifts. The majority of gifts for Luke (Co-Founder of Whitby Gin) have come from here. Our favourite item is this backpack which we bought over 2 years ago. It is used Every. Single. Day. and has travelled the UK, been stuffed with laptops, overnight items, hiking supplies etc and is still spot on.
What makes us love them that little bit more... is that it is a family run business who have an incredible eye for quality.
Berties of Bay
Berties is a beautiful store tucked away in the isolated coastal town Robin Hoods Bay. Their Ganseys are beautifully crafted and nice & toasty. Luke and I wore them all winter for our gin events. Smart, comfortable and hard wearing.
What makes us love them that little bit more… is that they have brought back to life heritage clothing.
Smugglers Treasures
Smugglers Treasures run by the incredibly talented Geri in her Whitby studio. She soaks up the rawness of nature and the wild adventures it can lead us on. Her work is influenced by the wild North Sea. I just love this Adventure Awaits ring- Luke *wink wink* Christmas gift idea .
What makes us love her that little bit more… is she uses Eco Silver which is 100% recycled silver produced from waste medical equipment, giftware, and scrap!
Whitby Yard
Whitby Yard is run by Jacquie who brought to life her Cape Cod inspired designs in 2019. Luke and I both have one of these lovely bobbly hats. The colours are beautiful and they keep our head and ears toastier on our beach walks.
